It’s been a while since the last Vagrant box update and release, so here are the highlights of the past months combined into a new shiny 2.0 release 🙂
New provider: OpenStack
In the past week I’ve been playing with OpenStack. Johan was so kind to send a PR nearly 2 years ago, now the NETWAYS NWS cloud is ready for OpenStack and my tests. Small things were needed to adopt the box provisioning with floating IPs. If you are an experienced OpenStack user, you’ll know how to source everything into your environment. Everyone else just can follow the newly written docs 🙂
Huge shout-out to Johan from CSC for his contribution!
July brought you new releases for our monitoring core and web frameworks: Icinga 2.9 and Icinga Web 2.6. Both major versions add more awesome features to your monitoring stack. Icinga 2.9.1 was already pushed fixing a problem with non-Systemd platforms, Icinga Web 2.6.1 is coming later this week fixing a regression.
On the other hand, integrations and cool new ideas are floating in our community channels. My personal highlight this time: A Macbook Pro touchbar status from Icinga, true #monitoringlove shared by noledge.
This month we’d like to welcome our newest Icinga partner: T1 Solutions. The Icinga-as-a-Service NWS platform hosted by our partner NETWAYS now features Icinga 2.9 master and satellites, try it out! Our partner Axxeo shared their insights on deploying Icinga 2 configuration with Ansible (German blog post).
Icinga turned 9 in May, we’re kicking off our 10th year of spreading the #icingalove ❤️
OSMC 2018 Call for Papers is officially open and we are looking forward to hear your Icinga stories this year. Did you dive through distributed setups, automated everything and combined the metrics of many tools into your stack? That’s a hell of a ride, and other community members will certainly listen and learn from your expertise 🙂 Did you hack your own modules, themes and addons and want to share it with more than 250 other monitoring enthusiasts – write an abstract, choose a fancy title, hit “Submit” and see you in Nuremberg from November 5th to 8th, 2018.
The first Icinga meetup in Berlin was pretty much a blast, and community members enjoyed it a lot. Let’s hope to see more meetups in the future – if you need help with promotion or swag, just let us know.
OSMC brought a lot of releases and new cool stuff to share and use this month.
Icinga 2 v2.8 including the CA-Proxy, On-Demand-Signing and Elasticsearch feature was released right before OSMC. Some of you already upgraded their production environment 🙂
Icinga Web 2 v2.5 was shown during our Icinga presentation at OSMC and released right after. Collapsible side menu, revamped design, domain aware AD authentication and many cool things more. Ensure to follow the upgrading documentation.
We’ve also announced new modules in their first release 0.9: Modules for Graphite and Elasticsearch integrated into Icinga Web 2.
Icinga Exchange v2.0 is now LIVE. Login with your Github account, create a new project, paste your project’s Github URL, choose an awesome logo, add some tags and let it sync. “icingaexchange.yml” is no more. Please join on in, we need your support on making this platform even better 🙂
We just released another minor bugfix release for Icinga 2. In addition to providing a number of documentation enhancements version 2.7.2 addresses a few bugs. A list of changes can be found here.
Packages for Icinga 2 v2.7.2 for the officially supported distributions should be available shortly.
