Icinga Web 2 – Things to Come

by | Aug 26, 2014

After we previewed Icinga Web 2 it became a bit quiet about our work in progress. While we’re still fine-tuning stuff under the hood, there are great things to come in the next weeks covering both installation and configuration.
For the installation part we’re working on Debian packages and RPM packages for all major distributions which will be available from packages.icinga.org. Configuration will be as easy as pie because the first time you’ll visit Icinga Web 2 after installation, configuration will be guided by an installation wizard. The wizard will take care of the following things:

  • Authentication setup
  • Admin account setup
  • Preferences setup
  • Enabling and configuring modules

Of course all settings will be available to the frontend so that you do not have to touch any config file at any time, if you don’t want to.

And like Bernd I’m looking forward to seeing you at the Icinga Camp in San Francisco.
